  10. This release follows quickly on the heals of the previous 2.32b release
  11. but with the new features included, I wasn't going to wait any longer.
  12. This release has been tested by my loyal beta group for over a week now
  13. using the new "multi-select" file feature. Many users have asked for
  14. the ability to select and send to the printer MULTIPLE files at a time.
  15. This version delivers on that feature!

  17. Also, in the Gee-Whiz department, a new feature which I call
  18. "watermarks".  I call it that because the it gives you a variety of
  19. options to put a caption of your choice in the background of your
  20. print-outs...much like the watermark in paper.
  21.  
  22. Any watermark text which you have changed and saved through the "save
  23. settings" option, will be automatically restored the next time your use
  24. PS-Up.

  26. New Visual Indicator:  When you are printing a file, the background
  27. graphic changes color from red to blue to indicate that the program
  28. is busy printing at the current time. When printing is complete, the
  29. color changes back to red.

  36. Futures:  I have had requests to look at the following enhancements to
  37. the PS-Up program:
  38.  
  39.      *  Provide International support for the A4 paper size.
  40.  
  41.      *  Provide Code page 850 character support.
  42.  
  43.      *  Provide Command Line option to print file(s) from
  44.             the command line.
  45.  
  46.      *  Save the last drive/directory you were in so that you will
  47.             automatically return there when run PS-Up again.
  48.  
  49.      *  Duplexing support for printing on both sides of the paper.
  50.  
  51.      *  New graphics to look at...
  52.  
  53.      *  A variety of margin, font, and other changes too numerous
  54.             to mention. These can probably be accomodated with a
  55.             prefix & postfix codes section. With this feature, you will
  56.             have the ability to "hook" into the PS-Up program and send
  57.             a file of your choosing with the appropriate setups.

  59.      *  Long terms ideas of mine...change the program to use the PM GPI
  60.         calls and eliminate the requirement to have a postscript
  61.         printer!

  63.      *  Eliminate the fan-out menus and move the entire program to one
  64.         concise dialog box with drop-down list option boxes...this would
  65.         eliminate a lot of mouse clicks.

  67.      *  Change the program to use the drag & drop metaphor. Printing
  68.         would be accomplished by pulling an icon based file from a list
  69.         box and dropping it on a variety of different icons which represent
  70.         printers and page formats. This would also supporting printing
  71.         ascii text from a other programs as well as the OS/2 file manager.
  72.         (Drag & drop was added to OS/2 with release 1.3 CSD 5015 and
  73.         is fully supported in OS/2 2.0).

  94. If you are a first time user of PS-Up, this is a postscript formatting
  95. program which is useful for formatting plain ascii text files and
  96. printing them on a postscript printer under OS/2. PS-Up should run on
  97. any version of OS/2 1.1 or greater. It DOES require a postscript printer
  98. to print. This program will format 1, 2, or 4 pages of text...66 lines
  99. to a page on a sheet of paper. Printing to a file is supported. PS-Up is
  100. a multi-threaded program and does not tie up the OS/2 desktop while it
  101. prints. Lines longer than 81 characters wrap to the next line and are
  102. not truncated.
